The Department of Health (DOH) is the department of the executive branch tasked with maintaining the health of the people of the Redmont, as well as to maintain the Reveille Hospital and the Aventura and Oakridge clinics to reasonably accommodate demand. It plays a significant role in the creation and the treatment of infectious diseases, and is charged with the administration of restricted medical devices and materials. The department is currently headed by Secretary Gwiis.

History

The Department of Health was amongst the first batch of department created in 2020. It has been a stable department since, and hasn't any major changes. The Paramedic job was removed in March 2024, due to lack of use and staff problems. The job Epidemiologist on the other side, got added in July 2024 to replace it, adding a new innovating job to the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Health holds several key responsibilities:

• Assuring general health coverage for the citizens of Redmont
• Researching and developing new health systems and mechanics, including diseases, cures and more
• Providing free healthcare for all citizens concerning non-pharmacy diseases
• Handling private pharmacies to ensure full cure coverage

Structure and operations

The Department of Health operates through a structured hierarchy that includes a range of leadership, management, and operational roles.

Leadership

The following roles are leadership roles obtained upon nomination, by either the President (Secretary) or by the Secretary of Health (Deputy Secretary).

• Secretary of the Department of Health: The head of the department, responsible for overall policy direction and the execution of the department's functions.

• Deputy secretary of the Department of Health: Supports the Secretary in day-to-day operations and policy implementation.

Management

The following roles are obtained after a high level of experience within the department, most often after exercing the roles of Doctor or Epidemiologist:

• Medical Specialist: Trains new trainee doctors to become full doctors, helps in leadership and policy redacting, gives input and brainstorm as part of the Health Council.

Employment

The following roles are employed by the Department of Health:

• Epidemiologist: Researches new diseases and cures in the Epidemiology Lab, helps developing new health mechanics. Gives input and brainstorm as part of the Health Council.
• Doctor: The department's core. Cure citizens from diseases and ensure proper health.

Public

The following roles can be publicly acquired, but are supervised by the Department of Health. They can be found at the University.

• Trainee Doctor: A freshly employed doctor, yet to be trained by the Medical Specialist team.
• Pharmacist: A license allowing to craft pharmaceutical products and sell them in an officially recognized Pharmacy.

The Health Council

The Health Council is an entity of the Department of Health made of Epidemiologists and Medical Specialsists. It is a place to develop new health technologies and debate about ideas of policies or implementiations concerning the Department of Health. For example, the Health Council created the new DoH pay scheme or the Pharmacy rework.

Facilities

The Department of Health has many facilities in Redmont to exerce Health coverage for the citizens.

Main Reveille Hospital (MRH)

The main facility for DoH employees. The MRH contains the following:

• Regular patient rooms and a cure crafting room
• Isolation floor for pandemics and contagious disease fast-curing
• Offices for DoH leadership and the Medical Specialist team
• The Lab for Epidemiology team
• A Medishop, publicly owned shop selling cures if no doctors are online

University Hospital (RUH)

The university hospital is a major facility for training and health education purpose. It contains the following:

• Regular patient rooms and a cure crafting room
• Health Exam rooms for taking exams for Public roles cited above
• Health classrooms to train new doctors.

Aventura & Oakridge Clinics

Those clinics allow coverage for town residents. They are both small and contain the following:

• Regular patient room and a cure crafting room

Revcatraz Clinic

A clinic to allow health coverage for prisoners. They contain the following:

• Regular patient rooms and a cure crafting room
