(Redirected from Making money)

This guide is your roadmap to making money in the current Redmont economy. Whether you want to get a job, start a business, trade with players, or enter the government sector, Redmont has many opportunities to help you build wealth.

Get a Job

Jobs are one of the easiest ways to start earning money.

You can have:

  • 2 Trades
  • 1 Profession
  • Unlimited Government jobs and licenses

University Exams

Pass job exams at Redmont University (using /university) to unlock different roles.

These exams test your wiki knowledge to make sure you understand your role's rules and mechanics.

Trades

Trades (Limit: 2)

Trades are entry-level jobs focused on gathering resources, crafting items, or providing services.

Available trades include:

Grinding Trades

Grinding trades, such as Miner and Fisher, generate money directly from the government through server plugin payouts.

They also allow you to gather resources more efficiently, which can be sold to other players (see Trading).

Examples:

  • Miner — Earn money while mining and supply shops with valuable resources.
  • Fisher — Earn money while fishing.
  • Hunter — Earn money by eliminating mobs.
  • Lumberjack — Earn money while clearing forests in the wilderness.
Crafting Trades

Crafting trades allow you to create specific items to sell.

Examples:

  • Chef — Create food items.
  • Carpenter — Create crafted goods.
Roleplay Trades

Some trades provide access to roleplay features:

  • Designer — Access the MapArt plugin.
  • Journalist — Access the news channel in Discord.

Contractor currently provides no benefits and is not recommended.

Professions

Professions (Limit: 1)

Professions are specialised roles that generally pay more than trades.

Available professions include:

Most professions focus on crafting specialised items.

Realtor only allows you to exceed plot limits and is not recommended for new players.

Licenses

Licenses (Unlimited)

Available licenses include:

Unlike university jobs, licenses can be revoked by the government if you break certain laws or regulations.

Most licenses unlock gameplay mechanics, while others allow participation in business or legal roleplay.

Entrepreneur License

  • Highly recommended for new players.
  • Allows you to make money by sending chat advertisements for other players.

Lawyer License Allows you to represent players in court.

Lawyer licenses are split into:

  • Solicitor
  • Barrister
  • Attorney

These require passing difficult university exams covering the Redmont Civil and Criminal Codes.

Legal professionals can earn money by:

  • Drafting lawsuits.
  • Defending clients.
  • Charging legal fees.

Government Jobs

Government jobs provide another way to earn money.

Examples include:

  • Trainee Doctors.
  • Police Recruits.

Government roles are advertised on the forums.

Tenders

The Department of the Interior (DoI) periodically releases tenders.

Players can:

  • Bid on available tenders.
  • Complete the required work or gather resources.
  • Receive payment from the government.

Tenders are a great way for new players to make money.

Player-Made Jobs

Player businesses regularly advertise jobs through the DemocracyCraft Discord server.

Most private-sector jobs focus on saving wealthy players time by completing tasks such as:

  • Clearing land.
  • Building cosmetic designs.
  • Gathering resources.

Explore player businesses to find opportunities that suit you.

Start a Business

Starting a business allows you to create your own income source.

Business Registration

To start a business:

  • Use the in-game companies plugin to track employees and assets.
  • Submit a business registration application on the forums to comply with laws and avoid potential lawsuits.
  • Apply for a government grant to help fund your business.

Secure a Location

A good location can help your business succeed.

Options include:

  • Purchasing a plot.
  • Renting space inside an existing building.

Government shop spaces near spawn are highly competitive but provide excellent foot traffic for new businesses.

Trading

Trading allows you to earn money by buying and selling items with other players.

Chest Shops

The ChestShop plugin is the main trading system on the server.

ChestShops allow you to:

  • Buy items.
  • Sell items.
  • Trade without needing to register a business.

You can:

  • Sell resources gathered through farming, crafting, or exploring.
  • Find shops that are buying items using the /find command.
  • Create your own shop and earn passive income while offline.

To find rental plots for ChestShops:

  • Use /rl search.

Merchant Arbitrage

Arbitrage is a simple way to make money by taking advantage of price differences.

The process:

  1. Buy items from shops selling them cheaply.
  2. Sell those items to shops paying higher prices.

Tips:

  • Buy low, sell high.
  • Use Gnomestats to find arbitrage opportunities.
  • Set up chest jobs to automatically arbitrage items and act as a "market maker".

Be aware that automated arbitrage carries risk if prices change significantly.

You can also:

  • Buy cheap raw resources from active grinders.
  • Sell resources in bulk to builders.
  • Sell resources through government tenders.

Conclusion

Whether you choose a job, start a business, or trade independently, Redmont offers many ways to grow your wealth.

Explore your options, make smart decisions, and build your fortune!
