The politics of Aventura defines the government, voting patterns, and political beliefs of its residents. Aventura politics has traditionally been dominated by indendents from all sides of the political spectrum.
Government
Using the structure all official towns in Redmont have, Aventura uses a mayor–council structure, with an elected mayor leading the council and the council seats being elected in their own elections.
History
2025
In the initial days of 2025, an influx of new players joined DemocracyCraft, due to the reporting on the February 2024 coup attempted by the Redmont Nationalist Party. This influx, known as the Trolligarch wave, is credited with shifting Redmont's political landscape to the left, notably establishing the WPR. In the January congressional elections, the GER–WPR coalition achieved a majority in the House of Representatives, and in the February 2025 presidential election, its joint ticket won, with the WPR's 1950minecrafter ascending to the presidency and the GER's Yeet_Boy, then-Mayor of Oakridge, to the vice presidency.
In mid-February, the sixth mayoral election was held. The major candidates were RylandW (GER) and Sleepii_Sloth (WPR), who ran as independents under the support of the WPR, and AnimeInc (IND) and Katto (IND), who also ran as independents with the backing of the LfR. Both candidates tied in the first round with 22 votes, but RylandW received 3 second-preference votes whereas AnimeInc received 1; on the 12th of February RylandW and Sleepii_Sloth were declared the winners of the election.[1] Shortly after, AnimeInc and Katto, represented by Gribble19 of Dragon Law Firm, filed a lawsuit against the Commonwealth in the Supreme Court, because Sleepii_Sloth was ineligible to run for deputy mayor due to their join date. On 18 February, the court voted to issue an emergency injunction suspending RylandW and Sleepii_Sloth from their positions and the former mayor and deputy mayor, CopTop_YT and AnimeInc, served as caretakers.[2]
The Supreme Court sided with AnimeInc and Katto and on the 26th of March ordered a special election take place. In this election, AnimeInc and Katto received five more votes than RylandW and Sleepii_Sloth and were declared the winners.[3] The next month two special council elections were held to elect new chief counsel and commerce heads. In these elections, RylandW (WPR) and Angryhamdog (IND) were elected.[4]
In May, special tourism and commerce head elections were held. In the former, Plura72, as the only candidate, was elected by default, and in the latter, EATB (WPR), bigpappa140 (GER), and Dearev (IND) ran. EATB received 12 votes and bigpappa140 and Dearev each received three.[5]
In June, a special election for the office of administation was held after Yeet_Boy was removed for not being an Aventura resident. This election was won by RealImza.
