Welcome to this guide that sheds light on the important role of police officers (constables) in maintaining peace, order, and lawfulness on the server. As a police officer, you are responsible for preventing and addressing crimes, upholding the law, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment.

Duties

As a police officer, your responsibilities include:

• Arresting individuals based on in-game reports using the DCPolice plugin.
• Resolving open charges as they become available.
• Responding to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) tickets.
• Providing security at DPA-sanctioned events.
• Apprehending bank robbers and trespassers when alarms go off.
• dGeneral Assistance to higher ranks

Structure

The DHS has a very ordered hierarchy, as follows:

• Secretary of DHS: The role of the DHS Secretary is to lead the departments, handling hiring, firing, acting as the final decider for all policy choices, and ensuring the long-term stability of the department.
• Deputy Secretary of DHS: The role of the DHS Deputy Secretary(s) is to assist the Secretary in the daily runnings of the Department, including employee management and decision making. When the Secretary is not available, the Deputy Secretary is responsible for leading the Department.
• Captain: Captains are responsible for serving as high-level advisors to the Secretary, as an additional recognition of their critical role within the department. They are primarily responsible for the highest level cases or discipline when not handled by the Secretary.
• Lieutenant: The role of the Lieutenant is to assist in department management, performing both the tasks of an officer but training new recruits to do the same. Additionally, they assist leadership with decisionmaking by providing input and votes on applications, policy decisions, and terminations. Lieutenants also have access to debt collection.
• Sergeant: Sergeants hold a vast amount of knowledge and duties of a Police Officer, and are expected to help other Officers with questions and improving their own abilities. They are able to handle judicial verdicts and warrants, and are tasked to begin building leadership skills in preparation to become a Lieutenant. Additionally, they review Firearms Applications as needed.
• Police Officer: Police Officers are recruits who have taken and passed their Police Officer exam, and are expected to have a strong knowledge of department and legal procedure. They are expected to handle arrests, criminal records, and tickets, with little to no confusion about what these tasks mean and how to perform them.
• Recruit: The role of Recruits is to go through a learning period in the DHS where they learn about police protocols, procedures, and train with the self-training guide. This is a time to ask questions and learn mistakes, and determine if the DHS is a good fit for the recruit. Note that Recruits cannot handle discord tickets without the permission of their mentor, and may not arrest or create criminal records without completing the training and being approved by their mentor.

To become a police officer, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Forums -> Department of Homeland Security -> Applications.

2. Click on ‘Applications’ & ‘Apply.’

3. Fill in the required details in the application form and submit.

• Do not misuse police tools or commands.
• Maintain respect in interactions with employees and the public.
• Do not leak any classified information without permission.
• The Secretary can speak publicly on non-classified matters.
