The President of the Senate is the presiding officer of the Senate. The office was established in 2020 as apart of part 1, section 6 of the Constitution of Redmont. The President of the Senate may request for the President to dissolve the Senate. If the positions of President and Vice President are vacant, the President of the Senate assumes a caretaker position and must immediately facilitate a new Presidential election.[1]
Election
At the start of a new Congressional term, or when the current President of the Senate resigns or is removed from their position via a vote of no confidence, the Senate will internally elect a new President of the Senate with a simple majority. The President of the Senate must be a current Senator.[1]
