The president of the Senate (PotS) is the presiding officer of the Senate of Redmont. The office was established in 2020 as part of part 1, section 6 of the Constitution of Redmont. The president of the Senate may request for the president of Redmont dissolve the Senate. If the positions of president and vice president are vacant, the president of the Senate assumes a caretaker position and must immediately facilitate a new presidential election.[1]
Election
At the start of a new session of Congress, or when the current president of the Senate resigns or is removed from their position via a vote of no confidence, the Senate will internally elect a new one with a simple majority. The president of the Senate must be a current senator.[1]
