A protest at the Capitol turns violent.

The June 2026 general strike, dubbed the 6/7 strike, began on 7 June 2026 in response to a series of actions by xEndeavour and the wider staff team, including taking over the DemocracyCraft Discord server and banning several players without notifying them of the reason.

Background

Late on 6 June or early on 7 June, JuliaMC_ requested to have her deadname removed from her forums account. xEndeavour refused, despite this having been done for Sofia2750 in the past. xEndeavour, despite having an alleged conflict of interest, banned JuliaMC_, as well as her supporter, Cassie45806, as well as TheSnowGuardian and pricelessAgrari.[1][2][3]

Participants

A sit-in in Aventura

At the beginning of the actions, Representative PluraGlasshouse (PCP) called for members of Congress to join the strike. Senator Johnes condemned xEndeavour's actions but disagreed with Plura's solution;[4] Representative Stanley582 concurred.[5] Representative Gluonmaster (TE) stated she was "sympathetic to Plura's cause" but "on the fence with whether congress should strike."[6] Server co-owner Technofied issued a statement explaining what had happened.[2] A formal suggestion was made to "unban members involved in the incident", receiving 79 ayes as of 11:14 pm UTC.[7]

On 7 June, Secretary of Education Smami advised all department employees to halt unnecessary activity[8] and subsequently announced this to the public.[9] Less than an hour later, the Workers' Party of Redmont officially endorsed the strike and encouraged its members "to walk away from their obligations to their government posts." The party demanded "amnesty or reduction of punishment" for those banned and deported in the 24 hours previous — namely Cassie45806, JuliaMC_ and TheSnowGuardian — and for the resignation of xEndeavour from the staff team.[10] Vice Chair of the Central Committee (CC) TheWrench01 then motioned to remove Technofied from the CC.[11]

Attorney General Superwoops issued a statement promising "swift legal action" to electoral officers who participate in juniperfig's "Longest Ballot Protest" — filing a protest candidacy to lengthen the ballot in the June 2026 presidential election, in which xEndeavour is running, as a protest against his campaign — as they are prohibited from seeking the presidency and vice presidency by law.[12] The Longest Ballot Protest, which saw the founding of a namesake political party, predates the controversy in question.[13]

A protest circle at the Reveille spawn

Subsequently, The Radical,[14] a left-wing newspaper, and Georg Street[15] endorsed the strike. Katzen[16] and Braincell News[17] also officially joined the strike. Soon after, Another News Company endorsed the strike and reported that the Department of Public Affairs had joined.[18] Almost immediately after, President of the Senate Talion77 (TP) and Speaker of the House xXTheoryXx (WPR) announced that he had requested President Technofied dissolve the 37th Senate[19] and the 37th House of Representatives.[20] Four minutes later, GlobalGroup Corporation announced its participation,[21] and five minutes later, the United Jaronites Party advised its members to join the strike.[22] Four minutes after that, Mayor of Oakridge Sofia2750 announced that the Oakridge town council had voted to join the strike.[23] The Church of Staffatology also encouraged a full boycott of the server amongst its members.[24] Redmont Bar Association councillor Anthony_org[25] and the Supreme Court of Redmont also suspended their activities.[26]

As this unfolded, #campaign was filled with anti-xEndeavour and pro-strike content.[27] Calls for a "total boycott" emerged.[28] In-game protests at spawn and the Capitol took place and quickly turned violent.[29]

Former President juniperfig has been one of the most active advocates in favor of the strike. She demanded the ongoing Multiman155 presidential campaign cancel its rally that day in support of the protests,[30] and supported the strike on her personal Gnomestack blog.[3] The Multiman155 rally was converted into a rally in favor of the general strike.

The Aventurian militia occupying the House of Representatives chambers.

Also at this time, a breakaway server called District Roleplay emerged, supported by many of the protestors.[31] Mayor Budgiebud declared the secession of Aventura[32] and Sofia2750 opened a referendum for Oakridge independence;[33] a militia of Aventurians led by ZxRiptide began storming federal government offices in Reveille (including the House of Representatives chambers[34] and the Department of Homeland Security[35]) and robbing the bank.[36]

Soon, a GnomeFundMe campaign was launched by GreyMC_, a member of the UJP, to financially support employees of government departments; as of 7 June at 10:53 pm UTC, it has raised $15,810.31, including some from JuliaMC_.[37][38] Later, the Department of Health officially shut down.[39] At some point before, the Department of the Interior also joined the strike.[40] Redmont's Economic News boldly stated that "Redmont is in shambles and in an [sic] collapse" and that the Aventurian militia was killing people near spawn;[41] it later announced an indefinite halt of its operations.[42] At 8:44 pm UTC, the Department of Homeland Security ceased operations, meaning the nation's police force is inactive.[43] The wiki page about the strike was made the month's featured article in the same day, replacing that about Technofied's February 2026 presidential campaign; juniperfig was made the featured player, replacing Raz0Baz0.[44]

Likely unrelated to the strike, the plugin facilitating economic transactions went down around 9:40 pm UTC, meaning person-to-person financial transactions are impossible, adding to the chaos of the times.[45] Around the same time, Wax Wing News came out in support of the strike after one of its journalists were allegedly censored by server staff.[46]

Sadly, this also resulted in GnomeFundMe going offline, resulting in the main source for strike funds going down with it.

Opposition

An op-ed by Dartanman expressed opposition to xEndeavour's actions and to the strike. It was harshly received.[47] He again called for the strike to end in a follow-up article.[48]
