The news industry in Redmont is a branch of the media industry. It includes in-game newspapers and web-based news distribution such as via Discord, YouTube, and websites.
History
The first #news-based newspaper was Democracy Daily, founded by Westray in late August 2020. Other early news outlets active in 2020 include The Hamilton Times, The Atrium Tribune, and Central Frequency News.
From 2021 to 2022, the industry matured. Politico emerged, as did The Redmont Journal, The Daily Chip, Royal Eagle News, and Resling News. From 2022 to 2024 the industry remained relatively the same, with new outlets emerging and old outlets becoming inactive.
In 2024, the news industry saw a decrease in activity. Outlets such as Virtus News, The Daily Chip, MouseCorp News, and ColonelKai's Theory & Politika Redmont were promiment, as well as the satirical The Radish. xEndeavour's Politico shifted toward more biased reporting and Redmont Media was directly operated by the Patriotic Coalition of Redmont-funding nonprofit Redmont for Equal Citizens.
2025 saw a resurgence in activity in the industry and the establishment of new outlets, due in part to the Trolligarch wave. In January, The Reveille Times made its debut and quickly became a leading source of news and information. The Reveille Times publishes its articles to its website, inspiring other outlets, such as Alexandrian News and Paper News to do the same. Later in the first half of the year outlets such as MSMBS News and satirical newspapers such as DC Truth Daily, Georg Street, and GnomeCorp arrived.
The year 2026 brought in many more news outlets, partly due to the Yeah Jaron wave; but before the wave, the first news sources added to the newsfeed were VoidNews and DC Independent Publishers NPO, later followed by Plura Writting Corporation, MZP, Bloomberg Originals and Bloomberg News. The final news sources added January 2026 were Sanctum Exchange Corporation, The Gazzete, Torchlight Media, Horizon (DC), and Alexandrian News. All of these news companies seems to have since disappeared; and that appears to be the case for almost every single news source. The only news channel that still has a valid link seems to be Stanley582's server, now known as The News Network or TNN (previously called Cable News Network or CNN). Many other news organisations were added to the newsfeed, none of them seem to still be active as of 18:07 ET, on 26 August 2026.
The first news company added after the Yeah Jaron wave seems to be Raz-TPA News, along with The Residential Post. Many news sources have since been added; although few have stayed. DemocracyCraft has also not seen The Reveille Times in awhile. On 13 July 2026, The Reveille Times started reposting the same news article via their bot called "The Reveille Times | LIVE".[1] And on 13 August 2026, their publisher lukadelrey stated that they were going to take a break from news.[2] As of 18:34 ET, on 26 August 2026, The Reveille Times has not posted anything since 16 July 2026.[3]
