The Department of the Interior (DOI), known by various other names in 2020, is the department of the executive branch tasked with preserving wildlife and urban areas through upkeep and overseeing and maintaining the aesthetic of the server. It plays a significant role in the management of the server's mobs, and in keeping the Wild clean and presentable. The DOI also maintains the former town Willow and the animal shelter. The department is currently headed by Secretary winterwolf.

History

The department was initially established as the Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPAW), tasked with overseeing the Wild. The name was subsequently changed following an executive order from then-President xEndeavour to the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) in May. It was then again renamed the Department of Environment and Recreation (DER) in June 2020, and finally the Department of the Interior (DOI) in July of 2022.

During the department's tenure as the Department of Parks and Recreation, department responsibilities were exclusively that of rangers; upkeeping the wild, maintaining the animal shelter, and managing the zoo. The supply sector of the department was added following its reformation into the Department of the Interior in order to provide the government with an efficient method of restocking resources.

Following the dissolution of Willow as a town, the oversight of farming and animal overcrowding policies and regulation was delegated to the Department of the Interior.

Duties and responsibilities

The Department of the Interior holds several key responsibilities:

• Upkeeping the Wild by landscaping aesthetically displeasing areas, reporting unclaimed and inactive builds, and performing evictions on inactive claimed regions
• Managing the animal shelter, allowing players in Reveille and Oakridge to adopt tamable animals to keep in the city
• Overseeing plot regulations in the farming district of Willow
• Managing the national zoo
• Operating the supply depot, keeping it well-stocked, and auctioning government tenders

Structure and operations

The Department of the Interior operates through a structured hierarchy that includes a range of leadership, management, and operational roles. The department works closely with other governmental bodies, in particular the Department of Construction and Transport, to ensure the smooth functioning of its internal policies.

Leadership

• Secretary of the Department of the Interior: The head of the department, responsible for overall policy direction and the execution of the department's functions.
• Deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior: Supports the Secretary in day-to-day operations and policy implementation.

• Senior ranger: Helps oversee the execution of ranger activities and tasked with training and mentoring newly employed rangers.
