218218Consumer, also known as Consumer or simply 218, was a politician who served as the fifth President of Redmont. A member of the Democratic Reformist Party (DRP)[1] and later the Ice Cream Party (ICP),[2] he served as Secretary of State,[3] a representative, Deputy Speaker of the House and Speaker of the House. He was an attorney and miner.[4]
Run for Senate

On the 13th of December 2020, 218 announced his candidacy for Senator in the December 2020 Senate Special Election with the Democratic Reformist Party.[6]
He stated that: "Loud and proud, I am running on a campaign of renewal, innovation, and defending the average player".[5]
Policy Goals
218's key policy goals were as follows:[5]
- Department-Congressional coordination
- Tour reform
- Working with the House and DPA to increase commissions
- Supporting investment in new towns
- Properly vetting nominations for cabinet and the judiciary
- Promoting discussion and debate in Congress before bills are submitted
- Working with Representatives to amend bills so they can pass
- Senatorial transparency
- Defending small businesses AND wages
When the polls closed on the 20th of December, 218 had won the special election decisively, with nearly 70% of the popular vote.[7]
Run for Representative
On the 2nd of January 2021, 218 announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives again with the DRP.[8][9] Since he was currently a Senator, he would need to resign his position if he were elected. He stated that this was because he wanted to "propos[e his] own legislation, an ability exclusive to Representatives", and that this was "the best way [he] fel[t he could] get things done".[8]
His key policy goals at the time of his candidacy were: "corporate accountability, closing tax loopholes, balance in [the] government, and recognizing the struggles that new players face".[8]
He was the most successful candidate in that election, winning 41% of the popular vote, more than any other candidate by over 10 points.[10] It was an overall success for his party, the DRP, and they gained control of the House shortly afterwards.
Time as a Representative
During 218's tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, he boasted a number of policy achievements, including:[11]
- Implementing property taxes against plot hoarding and reducing the tax burden on the middle class
- Making the consumption of all drugs legal
- Increasing punishments for resisting arrest
- Banning Pharmacists from undermining the DoH and selling goods on hospital grounds
- Simplifying rules & laws in new categories and making them easier for people to look through
- Simplifying the Congressional process and streamlining the passage of bills
- Lowering the threshold for the removal of Representatives from office, to increase the ability of Congress to hold their colleagues to account
- Expanding transparency on motions and requiring their publication on the forums
He ended up authoring nearly 40 bills during his time in Congress.[12]
Presidential Run
On the 15th of September 2021, 218 announced his candidacy for the Presidency. He was then serving as the Speaker of the House, and ran with running mate GoldBlooded, the then President Pro Tempore of the Senate, under the Ice Cream Party.[2] He officially submitted his candidacy on the 1st of October.[2]
He comfortably won this election with 57% of the vote to main opponent JoanM999 of the Nationalist Party of Redmont (NPR), who achieved 41% of the vote. The remaining vote share was taken by 3rd place candidate, ByeSprite.[13]
Campaigning
Qualifications
After 218 announced his candidacy, he started a somewhat defensive and non-partisan campaign, announcing policy goals and debating fellow candidates almost daily, while maintaining that his goal was to work with other parties as much as possible.[14] Despite this, he consistently expressed that he was the most qualified candidate, and the candidate who was best fit to do the job[12] due to his experience as Secretary of State and as Speaker of the House, positions which are 2nd and 4th in the presidential line of succession, respectively.[12] Additionally, he believed that his unique policy proposals were best suited to help new and working-class players.[12]
Policy Positions
Among 218's key policy positions was the issue of transparency in Government. 218 stated that he would like to increase the publicity and accessibility of department policies, on both the forums and on Discord, preferably in an organised channel. He wanted to release all department policies, saving that they wouldn't hinder the department's functioning or ability to conduct certain work in secret.[15]
Cabinet
During the campaign, when asked if he thought the Cabinet was an extension or a direct representation of the President, 218 answered in the affirmative. He said he believed that every nomination for his cabinet was "fit to execute [his] policies with both knowledge and activity". Additionally, he said he would "like to encourage a culture of new ideas and discussions on new initiatives in cabinet. [He] actually prefer[s] that they run their department the way they want to, since they know more about their departments than [he does]".
Presidency
Cabinet
Four hours after he was sworn in as president, 218 announced his nominations for his cabinet. All of these nominations were accepted by the Senate.[16][17]
