Trolligarch (joined 28th February 2021), is a Redmontian attorney, barrister, lawyer, famous for his YouTube video essays and investigative journalism covering Redmont.

Early life and education

Trolligarch joined on February 28, 2021, being active for only two minutes before leaving. He returned on 29 June, 2021, and in the early morning of the next day, would obtain Diamonds, armour, and Obsidian. At this time, he appeared to possess the attorney role in-game, implying that he may have been involved in the Redmont Law scene. On 1st July 2021 at 19:04 UTC, he was murdered, arguing with the murderer that he could never consent to his murder. He would leave the server 43 minutes later, then disappear again, only to return once more on August 17, 2021, before disappearing again and reappearing on November 8, 2021. After this date, he would primarily be active on Discord and rarely visit in-game. It is possible that Trolligarch was studying or was a graduate of Law during or around this time, as he later commented on the July 6, 2023, that his "law degree predates ChatGPT", with ChatGPT becoming largely popularised in late 2022.

Years of lurking

Onward from the 8th November 2021, Trolligarch would primarily become active lurking on the DemocracyCraft Discord server and Forums, scowering through Redmont's laws and acts and providing his analysis and opinion on the topics, with interest likely fuelled from his real-life legal background as on the May 21, 2024, he mentions that "I am a lawyer in the UK and have an English law degree, so I think I can talk about the law in general terms".

On November 22, 2021, he commented on Redmont's law, stating "DC's statutory definition of tax evasion is really broad", and provided some commentary on it based on his own English legal experience. After disappearing once again, on May 22, 2022, he would join a voice chat discussion, suggesting he would "help the defendant" in the RBA mock trial event, asking if 12.2 Contagious Diseases (as part of the Contagious Clarification Act) was a criminal offense. The mock case, where the doctor as a plaintiff was suing the patient (the defendant), Trolligarch criticises that it should've been prosecuted by the state. The RBA mock trial event would've likely been based on the District Court case JB3335 v. Mebis [2020] DCR 3, given its similarity.

On 6 September 2023, he discusses on the Discord about his experience with other simulated democracy roleplay communities he had participated in, noting that "there are plenty of ones that are like Discord only, but there are some on Reddit, Roblox, NationStates, etc... there's a whole world out there and I've probably visited like 50 or so at this point lol". This implies that his role at Redmont is mostly out of curiosity and would likely play a large part in the development of his future videos.

On 6 May 2024, he returned to Redmont, asked "how do I check what profession I have", and "what's the command to check my role?" in the game chat as he was trying to register with the RBA. On 21 May 2024, he had a very lengthy discussion about Redmont Case Law. This was the last time he displayed any signs of activity within the community until the release of his January 1, 2025 video When teenagers run virtual democracies.

YouTube Fame

On 30 December 2024, an early access link to When teenagers run virtual democracies was shared on the Discord server, with End replying to a comment about it being released soon. It was released on January 1, 2025, and was officially announced on the server. The video covered the March 2024 Bezzergeezer controversy in Redmont government, where server staff commented "one group within the community that has gradually accrued power to the point where they control all arms of government", and then President GoldBlooded and Vice President SomeHumanOnEarth were impeached, allowing Bezzergeezer to assume the Presidency. The YouTube video would go to amount 1,422,555 views as of June 20, 2025, and would be responsible for a very large influx of new players, such as President Kaiserin_, who joined the same day of the video's release. This sudden influx of players would be commonly referred to as The Trolligarch Wave.

He would later go on to release videos directly about and referring to the Commonwealth of Redmont. His first being The short seller who bet on a Minecraft financial crisis – DC Short I, released April 3, 2025, which covered January 2022's Finance minister ThrityStone's attempts to stop a panic sell and collapse of the Onyx Exchange, where Trolligarch accuses that Onyx exchange's valuations were made up by staff, leading to allegations of securities fraudand its subsequent implosion that hurt then Hamilton's economy. Trolligarch would also cover the immense risk in the finances and practices of Vanguard National Bank, which would later collapse and be liquidated.

His third video, The forex traders who shorted a Minecraft server’s currency – DC Short II, also released April 3, 2025, which is an over one-hour long investigation into Redmont's financial sector. This video would deep-dive into the FOREX trading of Vanguard National Bank and other Commonwealth financial institutions which were aggressively shorting the DC dollar (DC$). These two videos would obtain 112k and 62k views respectively. Trolligarch is rumoured to be working on a follow up video.
