This guide is your roadmap to making money, from landing a job to starting your own business in the current Redmont economic meda. Whether you are grinding raw resources, launching entrepreneurial ventures, or entering the government sector, Redmont has the opportunities you need to thrive.

Get a Job

You can have up to 2 trades, 1 profession, and any number of government jobs or licenses!

University exams

  • Pass job exams at Redmont University (via /university) to unlock various roles. These exams test your wiki knowledge to ensure you understand your role's rules and mechanics.

Trades

Trades (Limit: 2): These are entry-level manual-labor jobs (Miner, Lumberjack, Farmer, Fisher, Hunter, Chef, Brewer, Carpenter, Contractor, Designer, Journalist).

Grinding trades (like Miner and Fisher) prints money from the government directly into your bank balance as you perform actions through server plugin payouts, and can allow you to more efficiently collect resources. Crafting trades (like Chef or Carpenter) allow you to craft specific consumable goods to sell in chest shops. Roleplay trades like Designer and Journalist allow you to access the MapArt plugin or the news channel in the Discord respectively. Contractor currently does nothing and is not recommended.

  • Explore the Hunter job for self-paced earnings by eliminating mobs!
  • Try being a Miner and supplying shops with your valuables!
  • Work as a Lumberjack and clear out forests in the wilderness!
  • Become a Fisher and relax while earning money!
  • Diversify your income streams and build your skills with even more trade jobs!

Professions

Professions (Limit: 1): These tend to be higher-paying specialized roles (Armourer, Jeweller, Mason, Mechanic, Realtor).

Most professions focus on crafting custom specialized items. Realtors, however, only allow you to exceed plot limits, and are not recommended for new players.

Licenses

Licenses (Unlimited): (Accountant, Driver, Entrepreneur, Pharmacist, Pilot, Developer, Lawyer).

Licenses notably can be revoked by the government if you break certain laws or regulations, unlike other university jobs. Most licenses unlock certain gameplay mechanics, such as running server chat ads (Entrepreneur). The Entrepreneur license is highly recommended for new players, as you can easily make money by sending chat ads for other players.

Lawyer licenses do not grant you any gameplay mechanic, but instead allow you to represent other players in court. These licenses are split into Solicitor, Barrister, and Attorney, requiring passing complex university exams testing your knowledge of the Redmont Civil and Criminal Codes. Legal professionals make significant money by drafting lawsuits, defending clients, and claiming legal fees.

Government jobs

  • Entry-level government roles like Trainee Doctors and Police Recruits await on the forums!

Player-made jobs

  • Join the DemocracyCraft Discord server for real-time job listings from player-made businesses!
  • Most private sector roles are built around convenience where wealthy players pay you to save them time on low-skill tasks like clearing land, building cosmetic designs, or gathering resources.
  • Explore business opportunities and find your perfect job match!

Start a Business

Business registration

  • Access the in-game companies plugin, which helps track employees and assets.
  • Submit your business registration application on the forums to comply with certain laws and avoid getting sued.
  • Apply for a government grant to kick-start your business financially.

Secure a location

  • Purchase a plot or rent space within existing buildings for your business (only really necessary if you run a chest shop).
  • Government shop spaces near spawn are highly competitive to rent, but offer the best foot traffic for new businesses.

Trading

Chest Shops

  • The ChestShop plugin is the main form of trade on the server. You can use them to buy and sell items, and it is not necessary to register a business to use them.
  • The /find command can help you locate Chestshops buying and selling items across the server.

Merchant Arbitrage

  • Buy low, sell high!
  • Set up chest jobs to automatically arbitrage items.
  • You can also buy raw resources cheap from active grinders and sell them in to builders or government tenders.

Conclusion

Whether you choose a stable job, start a business, or dive into independent selling, Redmont offers diverse opportunities to grow your wealth. Explore your options, make strategic decisions, and watch your bank account flourish!
