The April 2021 Hamilton City mayoral election was the election to decide the first mayor of Hamilton City.
Candidates
Six candidates declared their candidacies, but of these one dropped out and one was ruled ineligible to run — these were Dusty_3 and x1x1, respectively. The four candidates who were included on the ballot were Bezzergeezer (BMP), Galavance (IND), _37_ (SPP) and Aladeen22 (SPP), in order of declaration; all declared on 1 April except for Aladeen22, who declared the day following. The fact that two candidates from the same party ran for a single office is rare and likely split the vote, although even if the two SPP candidates' votes were combined, they still would have came in second place with just over a third of the vote.[1]
Galavance was endorsed by the Birthday Party following his victory in its primary. Additionally, he was supported by various candidates for the city council.[2]
