Staff will provide various kinds of logs and perform certain actions with a valid order from a court. Examples of valid court orders include approved warrants, motions to compel, and subpoenas. Staff can also testify in court under the same principles listed here, and to clarify Staff intent. If the court order is in the form of a warrant, players should screenshot the warrant. Most staff members are unable to access warrant links and as such the full warrant page should be submitted via screenshot.
Scope and Purpose
Court orders must be specific. Anything that would need a time to look up should have a time. All relevant information you can offer the Staff team to help is requested.
Things that will get you denied:
- “Seize/search everything [player] has”. We have no way of doing this.
- Weeks worth of logs / Thousands of Logs (assuming it’s not extremely specific in scope)
- Anything without a clear purpose, intent or legitimate roleplay reason to know.
Additionally, no request should ever seek personal identifying information (PII). Staff will always deny such requests and individuals receiving such a request are encouraged to report it to the Staff Team.
Chat Logs
Direct Messages (Discord GC/DM, in-game DM)
Regarded as completely private. Users may share and consent for staff to retrieve the logs, but there is no staff remedy if no party is willing to consent.
Knowing of the existence (example, Angryhamdog shares an image of him and Technofied conspiring to overthrow the government) does not entitle individuals to gain access without consent.
Individuals can subpoena or request witness testimony in such cases. Intimidation for consent will not be tolerated.
Semi-Private Messages (Local, Murmur, Ticket, Affiliated Server)
Regarded as semi-private. With actual proof (time, people involved, basic content, reasonable suspicion), court orders will be actioned without consent. With consent, the staff team can verify messages.
Note that government ticket transcripts are mailed to the ticket opener as well as available via the ticketbot dashboard for a period of up to two bots.
Affiliated Servers are subject to court orders as a normal part of roleplay.
General Chat Log Notes
Confirmation and court orders should not be used to ‘just confirm’. Courts should, similar to the Staff Policy on the Homeland Security Plugin, assume chat logs are correct unless there is conflict.
The malicious faking of someone else's chat logs also falls under Staff's impersonation rule.
Staff Chatlog Decision Tree:

Chest and Inventory Search/Seizure
Logs to search must be specific and targeted.
Specific items (or sets of items) can be requested to be tracked down via logs (or to find additional chests, if applicable).
Areas that may be searched (or seized):
- Specific properties, areas or chests
- Inventories, Ender Chests, Supporter Chests
Individuals may not request “all chests that a user has”. This is simply impractical for the staff team to fulfill.
All such searches require a warrant/court order (and for warrants, purpose in pursuing a criminal. The Staff Team will not be searching chests because a player misplaced an item).
Miscellaneous
Block Place and Edit Logs
DCT Inspectors may request the Staff Team to provide information on the last time blocks were placed on a plot for purposes of non-improvement eviction reports without a court order.
Other block edit logs (e.g., last time a sign or lectern was updated) require a court order.
Animal Murder Logs
Animal (and Villager) Murder logs may be requested without a court order by a Sergeant or higher in the Department of Homeland Security.
Drop Logs
May be requested via a court order with location, time, and item.
Financial Logs
Financial Logs (both personal and business) may be requested from the DOC with a court order.
