The July 2026 special presidential election will be held from 23 to 25 July and will be the the 19th election to decide the next president and vice president of Redmont. The special election, which is the first in the nation's history, comes after President Just_Jada resigned with no vice president and no Congress.[1]
The launched campaigns include, in order of declaration, xXTheoryXx and Antonfr, Dartanboy and Ameslap, roy405 and roy404 and Sofia2750 and Johnes.[1]
5 candidates declared, but were disqualified for not meeting the Constitution's requirements.
Background
President Multiman155 won the June 2026 presidential election with over 62% of the vote, breaking a year-long streak of the Workers' Party of Redmont.[2] Multiman resigned following the July 2026 strike, making his Vice President, Just_Jada, President by succession. She resigned a few days later, and with no Vice President, triggered a special presidential election, the first in Redmont's history.
Candidates
Following the resignation of Multiman and before Just_Jada had been officially sworn in as President, Sofia2750 and Johnes announced their campaign for President, running on a "continue the strike" and "let [DC] burn" policy.[3]
A few moments after Just_Jada had publicly stated her intent to resign from the Presidency, xXTheoryXx and Antonfr launched their campaign for the presidency.[4] Not long after, Dartanboy and Ameslap aswell as roy405 and roy404 announced their campaigns.[5][6]
Events

Theory and Anton's campaign hosted a campaign rally in Oakridge on 22 July, talking about their plans and answering questions from curious citizens in Redmont. At it's peak, over 60 people were in the Discord stage voice chat, and 30 people were present in-game.[7]
Electoral system
The President and Vice President are elected by a nationwide Single Transferable Vote (STV) system. Voters rank candidates in order of preference, ranking at least five candidates, or all candidates if fewer than five are contesting the election. Candidates who reach the election quota are declared elected, with any surplus votes transferred to the next preference on each ballot using the Gregory method. If no candidate reaches the quota, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated and their votes are redistributed according to the next available preference. The process continues until the President and Vice President are elected.[8]
Eligibility
The Redmont Constitution establishes eligibility requirements for candidates seeking elected office. Candidates must have recorded at least 12 hours of active playtime within the previous 30 days, have been members of DemocracyCraft for more than four months, and have accumulated more than 300 hours of total active playtime. Additionally, individuals who previously held the office of President are ineligible to immediately serve as President again.[9]
