Candidate declarations for the July special election closed on 22 July 2026,[1][2][3] followed by the opening of polls that day, and the closure of polls and the announcement of the results on 25 July.[4][5] The new members of the House of Representatives and Senate quickly a new Criminal Code Act, which was signed into law by President xXTheoryXx on 31 July 2026.[6]
The 39th Congress was initially a continuation of the 38th, marked as 38(2CS) in official documentation,[7] but was renamed to the 39th after the signing of the Congressional Session Name Act on 13 August.[8]
