San Mateo was a wild town, part of the Central Flats Merchant Republic (CFMR), near Central Flats, located west of Haven Valley, serving as its replacement, and succeeding for a while as San Mateo was gradually claimed to prevent griefing; however, its government dissolved, the land was unclaimed and the city was abandoned. As of 4 September 2024, most buildings remain, except those built by Bardiya_King (a builder and government organizer for the CFMR) and .AlexVonKing (who donated money to the CFMR).

History

While Haven Valley was experiencing conflicts with griefers, .CostcoRep2439 claimed a large piece of land west of Haven Valley at the coastline. It was down a hill, and contained a small apartment building when SpaceHombre came to visit it upon hearing of its existence.

After Haven Valley was destroyed, San Mateo flourished as it was mostly claimed. Buildings were constructed including "Trump Tower", "Bob Tower", and some more including a courthouse built by lcn that contained large amounts of netherite as well as the CFMR legal documents.

It became the unofficial capital of the CFMR where government meetings took place. After some time, Bardiya_King began participation in CFMR government as the DoS Secretary. .CostcoRep2439 became suspicious of Bardiya_King and raided his offices. Bardiya_King stayed in office; however, following government-unrelated dispute, Bardiya_King was fired, and ordered to leave the country. Following this event the town began to collapse, ending with the Bardiya_King v. CFMR court case which was the turning point that led to the dissolution of the CFMR and short-term dissolution of San Mateo. The dissolution was then canceled the following day. A new government was appointed following the canceled dissolution (list located below)

Following this, the town was quiet for a period of 36 hours. Following the 36 hours, another hostile takeover occurred when Bardiya_King went to .CostcoRep2439 to receive the new town charter. .CostcoRep2439 and others began to overthrow tusk2510 and Bardiya_King. This led to the San Mateo Confinement War that resulted in many losses of life. Following this Hostile Take Over the Town of San Mateo failed to recover and was subsequently dissolved. Some former residents of San Mateo now reside in a new unnamed town.

Buildings

San Mateo, compared to other wild towns, was large. Most of its buildings had some significance in the city, whether cosmetic or functional. Below is a list of buildings in San Mateo.

  • Trump Tower: Built shortly after the construction of Bob Tower, Trump Tower housed many government offices. It is now occupied by RInc. It is 9 stories tall, and according to .CostcoRep2439, it was inspired by the real Trump Tower.
  • Bob Tower: Built shortly after the formation of San Mateo, Bob Tower contained a courthouse as well as some offices. It was 7 stories tall.
  • Haven Valley Memorial National Tower: This building started as a midrise building (about 6 stories) and was gradually expanded in height. It contained apartments, offices, and the San Mateo Grand Theater.
  • "The gas station": A gas station built on land claimed by Xylight.
