The Heritage List is a catalogue of historic, culturally significant structures kept by the Department of Construction and Transport. Heritage listed buildings are protected from exterior alteration by federal law.

Listing process

To become heritage listed, an application is submitted by the owner, listing a structure's plot number, architects and significance to the server. Photos must be included in the application as well.[1]

Requirements

To become heritage listed, a structure must:[1]

  • Have been standing for at least two months
  • Be aesthetically cohesive with the surrounding area and aesthetically pleasing
  • Be of cultural or historical significance
