This guide is designed to help archivists navigate their role within the server community. It covers the general role of an archivist, the expectations and requirements, and suggested methodologies for research and article creation.

Duties

  • Serve as the server’s historians.
  • Research and document the server’s history.
  • Develop family trees.
  • Compile wiki pages.
  • Maintain historical buildings, such as the museum.

Structure

Archives manager

Archives managers supervise other archivists and prioritise and delegate tasks.

Application process

In order to apply for the position of archivist, one has to fill out an application and meet the appropriate requirements outlined on the application's page.

  1. Go to the forums -> Department of Education -> Applications.

  2. Click on ‘Applications’ & ‘Apply.’

  3. Fill in one's details and submit.

Should one have any questions about the application, be sure to go to #government-support on the main Discord and open a ticket in relation to the department you are applying under.

Requirements and expectations

Archivists are expected to:

  • Be active contributors within the server.
  • Fulfill their outlined roles.
  • Maintain a non-biased opinion when writing articles, both politically and regarding personal friendships on the server.

Methodology for research and article creation

To ensure comprehensive and accurate information in articles, archivists should:

  • Search public records.
  • Interview relevant individuals.
  • Investigate and ask pertinent questions.
  • Interview key individuals mentioned by the primary source.

For example, when writing an article on Onyx Industries, an archivist might direct message ElainaThomas29 for information, interview key individuals mentioned by ElainaThomas29 for additional or corroborating information, and formulate an article based on the collected data.
