The Bar Association of Redmont is a government entity separate from any branch. They operate to manage the legal profession, ensure legal compliance, and disbar members.

Governance

The BAR is governed by a Council of 5 members, one of which is the Chairperson of the BAR. The Council votes on motions proposed by fellow Councilors, these may include but are not limited to, policy changes, legal qualification changes, legal exam changes, and guides.

The BAR Chairperson (or Chair for short) is the head of the BAR, their duties, according to the “Redmont Bar Association Act”, are as follows:

  • Act as first among equals and spokesperson for the RBA;
  • Represent the RBA in public communications;
  • Cast the deciding vote in the event of a tied Council vote; and
  • Hold no additional powers beyond those held by other Councillors, as stated in Section 2.

The Chair may be removed from the position, without losing their Council seat, by an unanimous vote of the Councilors.

According to the “Redmont Bar Association Act”, no Council member shall hold:

  • The position of President, Vice President, or Attorney General;
  • A seat in Congress; or
  • A Judicial Officer appointment.

Membership

Membership into the BAR is granted automatically to all with Solicitor+ as their legal qualification. Members of the BAR can give out suggestions to the Council, vote on new Council members, and gain important information on the current state of their license to practice law.
