The Department of Public Affairs (DPA) is the department of the executive branch tasked with organizing and hosting server community events and contests, as well as the facilitation of media grants and the management of private events. It plays a significant role in community outreach for the Commonwealth of Redmont. The department is currently headed by Secretary KukkiNeko, who became acting secretary on the 14th of March, 2026 before their nomination hearing on the 25th of March.

History and Purpose

The DPA was founded with the primary purpose of acting as the central hub for server-wide community outreach and entertainment. It bridges the gap between the government and the player base by hosting events, promoting the server on social media, and managing public relations.

Historically, the department has been responsible for creating some of Redmont's most beloved traditions. Notable historical contributions include the creation of the traditional Presidential Roast, the development of DCTV, and the implementation of seasonal events like the Haunted House. The DPA also spearheaded "Red vs Blue," which was the first server-wide event of its kind designed to be free of timezone restrictions.

Leadership and Secretaries

The Department is led by the Secretary of Public Affairs, who oversees all operations, manages the department's budget, and sits on the President's Cabinet.

  • Current Secretary: Spyders_crypt (also known in the community as Soy Beer) is currently operating as the department's nominee/acting Secretary, though his initial nomination faced delays in the Senate due to a lack of quorum.
  • Former Secretaries & Notable Figures: Former leadership includes KukkiNeko, who served as acting secretary in early 2026. SnoWhitebeard is also heavily recognized for her foundational work and contributions to shaping the modern DPA. (Note: A complete historical list of every former secretary is currently unavailable in the public records).

Structure and Positions

The DPA features a structured hierarchy with multiple specialized roles:

  • Secretary: Manages overarching department operations, cabinet duties, and policy adjustments.
  • Deputy Secretary for Media and Archives: Assists the Secretary in leadership, with a central focus on overseeing the archives and media operations.
  • Media Manager (Subteam Leader): Assists in leading Media Advisors, votes on employee applications, and manages assigned media subteams.
  • Event Coordinator: Responsible for brainstorming, planning, and hosting official government events and community contests.
  • Media Advisor: Experts responsible for producing media content to promote the server.

Daily Duties of Department Staff

For the lower-level and entry-level employees in the department, day-to-day work is highly creative, collaborative, and interactive.

Media Advisors are divided into subteams (Marketing, Photography, Videography, and Graphic Design). On a daily or weekly basis, they:

  • Attend government and community events to take photographs or record video footage.
  • Fulfill inter-departmental requests for visual designs, logos, and event graphics.
  • Brainstorm, record, and edit short-form videos (such as TikToks, trailers, or skits) to promote the server.
  • Run in-game and Discord advertisements and discuss strategies to boost social media engagement.
  • Requirement: Media Advisors must submit some form of visual media at least once every other week.

Event Coordinators spend their time:

  • Planning the logistics, rules, and prizes for upcoming server events and contests.
  • Collaborating directly with Media Advisors to get promotional graphics and advertisements made for their events.
  • Actively hosting events in-game, managing private event requests, and ensuring smooth operations during community gatherings.
