The Department of Justice (DOJ), formerly known as the Department of Legal Affairs, is the executive department tasked with defending the national legal interest, and investigating and prosecuting crimes on behalf of the federal government. The department exists to defend the government and its national security interests, conduct prosecutions, and uphold the law. Specific responsibilities regularly adapt depending on the circumstances and the needs of the government.

Despite experiencing some troublesome times in the past, the DOJ is currently in a strong period of recovery and growth under new leadership.
