As a System Administrator or Senior Administrator, sometimes you will encounter situations where you accidentally deleted a file for good, overwritten something, or have to restore a player's inventory.
Thanks to Geri at Bloom, we now have a feature called Quick Restore which you can read more about here.
Important things to note...
Read all of these. All.
- To restore a player's inventory, do not navigate for files manually.
- TELL THE PLAYER TO LOG OFF. OTHERWISE, THIS WILL NOT WORK!
- Click on Backups
- Go to the Backup you wish to restore from.
- Click on "Quick Restore" not "Restore".
- Enter the paths to the player's inventory.
- There are two paths you must restore.
- Reveille/playerdata/uuid.dat
- Reveille/playerdata/uuid.dat_old
- It is important you do both, sometimes the "old" path isn't found - that's ok - you can ignore/skip it in that case.
- That does not mean you can skip it always, because if "old" is found, it will cause issues.
- There are two paths you must restore.
- Restore, while keeping the server online.
- Select Purge Found Files but do not turn
- Happy dance. :)
- Let the player know you restored their inventory and ask them to hop online!
- You must be confident in specifying the paths to restore, if you aren't clicking on the file and restoring that way.
- Paths must be specific, if you do Reveille/playerdata/ as opposed to Reveille/playerdata/plaeyr.dat - it will wipe everything in that folder.
- A good rule of the thumb is to check if there is a file extension.
- It's fine if you want to restore full folders too, but a lot of the time you won't be - so make sure you aren't doing this accidentally!
- When in doubt, ask.
- Anything however small the doubt needs to be clarified - ask Tech. It is fine if a ticket needs to wait a week or longer for his reply.
