The Department of Legal Affairs (DLA) existed until April 2024 when it was merged with the Department of Justice (DoJ).[citation needed] It was tasked with defending the national legal interest, investigating and prosecuting on behalf of the Federal Government, acting ethically and lawfully at the President’s direction and managing freedom of information requests.[1] It was led by an Attorney General. Today, the leader of the DoJ possesses that title.
