== Criminal Law: a closed list ==
The Criminal Code Act says it is "the exclusive and exhaustive listing of criminal offences within the jurisdiction of Redmont." Any civil wrong created by an Act of Congress is void unless it is added to the Civil Code (except for the Bankruptcy Act, for some reason). This ensures that Congress keeps every civil wrong in one place, so players can find them all easily.

They only apply where no Act of Congress or the Constitution already covers. The unusual part is how they change. An amendment to the Court Rules is simply "announced in the DemocracyCraft Discord."<ref name="CR" /> No vote, no involvement from Congress. Currently, the Supreme Court could instantly change who is allowed to sue, or when a case gets dismissed.

== How judges hold the law ==
Representatives serve two-month terms, and senators and the President serve four. Federal Court judges and District Court magistrates serve for no fixed term, although magistrates may be removed by the Supreme Court at any time. Supreme Court justices serve renewable six-month terms.

Because legislative terms are short and membership can change frequently, the judiciary has greater continuity through Precedent and the Court Rules.

The '''June 2026 general strike''', dubbed the '''6/7 strike''', as a server-wide political and economic shutdown that took place between 6 June and 8 June 2026. While it was triggered by co-owner [[xEndeavour]]'s refusal to redact a player's deadname and his subsequent unilateral bans, the strike was in actuality the culmination of over 8 months of growing discontent within an anti-xEndeavour faction, who had gathered a list of incidents claiming End had violated "Staff Policy". The strike called to strip End of his server ownership, but ultimately resulted in a year-long agreement for End to abstain from "day-to-day operations".

== Background ==
The conflict originated from months-long server-wide animosity towards End, under the anti-xEndeavour faction led by [[juniperfig]]. On 5 June 2026, juniperfig published a proposed bill on her [[Gnomestack]] blog titled ''A Bill to Change the ‘No Mixing Staff and Politics’ Rule'', specifically citing an incident where End deleted one of her messages for "criticizing End's actions as both a politician and a server owner."

On 6 June 2026, juniperfig launched her "Anyone but End" presidential endorsement, publicly accusing End of abusing his staff permissions for his presidential campaign. In the post, she created the "Longest Ballot Protest" — calling for participants to overwhelm the election ballot to disrupt the system, "Find a Vice President, declare as soon as you can, and drown out the campaigns until the server is nearly unplayable."

Around the same time, Representative [[JuliaMC_]] opened a staff support ticket requesting to have her former deadname redacted from her forum account's "Prior Nicknames" list, as Technofied had already previously done so for [[Sofia2750]]. [[Talion77]] initially responded that he would check whether the removal was possible, but xEndeavour intervened and refused the request, claiming there were "100s of pieces of content" tied to the name and that staff had a "genuine reason" to keep the record intact. When another staff member, Eenza, requested that Talion77 review the decision, xEndeavour deleted the message and informed JuliaMC_ that she was not permitted to appeal to another staff member. Suggestion threads were created in the Discord server that urged xEndeavour to either resign or be removed by Technofied. juniperfig later admitted in direct messages with xEndeavour that the incident around Julia's deadname was "added to the pile" of End's abuses.

xEndeavour unilaterally issued permanent bans against JuliaMC_, Cassie45806, TheSnowGuardian and [[pricelessAgrari]] on the server's punishment directory with "No reason stated." xEndeavour had stripped senior staff of their manager permissions, and temporarily seized control of the Discord server.

Co-owner [[Technofied]] intervened, securing the server files and console, and negotiated a "Joint Decision-Making Agreement" on 7 June. Technofied's announcement confirmed that he had redacted the deadname himself, and that both owners were now under a new agreement to resolve disputes.<ref name=":0" />

The conflict originated from months-long server-wide animosity towards End, under the anti-xEndeavour faction led by [[juniperfig]]. On 5 June 2026, juniperfig published a proposed bill on her [[Gnomestack]] blog titled ''A Bill to Change the ‘No Mixing Staff and Politics’ Rule'', specifically citing an incident where End deleted one of her messages for "criticizing End's actions as both a politician and a server owner."

On 6 June 2026, juniperfig launched her "Anyone but End" presidential endorsement, publicly accusing End of abusing his staff permissions for his presidential campaign. In the post, she created the "Longest Ballot Protest" — calling for participants to overwhelm the election ballot to disrupt the system, "Find a Vice President, declare as soon as you can, and drown out the campaigns until the server is nearly unplayable."

While it was triggered by co-owner [[xEndeavour]]'s refusal to redact a player's deadname and his subsequent unilateral bans, the strike was in actuality the culmination of over 8 months of growing discontent within an anti-xEndeavour faction, who had gathered a list of incidents claiming End had violated "Staff Policy". The strike called to strip End of his server ownership, but ultimately resulted in a year-long agreement for End to abstain from "day-to-day operations".

== Background ==
The conflict originated from months-long server-wide animosity towards End, under the anti-xEndeavour faction led by [[juniperfig]]. On 5 June 2026, juniperfig published a proposed bill on her [[Gnomestack]] blog titled ''A Bill to Change the ‘No Mixing Staff and Politics’ Rule'', specifically citing an incident where End deleted one of her messages for "criticizing End's actions as both a politician and a server owner."

On 6 June 2026, juniperfig launched her "Anyone but End" presidential endorsement, publicly accusing End of abusing his staff permissions for his presidential campaign. In the post, she created the "Longest Ballot Protest" — calling for participants to overwhelm the election ballot to disrupt the system, "Find a Vice President, declare as soon as you can, and drown out the campaigns until the server is nearly unplayable."

Around the same time, Representative [[JuliaMC_]] opened a staff support ticket requesting to have her former deadname redacted from her forum account's "Prior Nicknames" list, as Technofied had already previously done so for [[Sofia2750]]. [[Talion77]] initially responded that he would check whether the removal was possible, but xEndeavour intervened and refused the request, claiming there were "100s of pieces of content" tied to the name and that staff had a "genuine reason" to keep the record intact.
