The '''Workers' Party of Redmont''' ('''WPR''') is a left-wing political party in [[Redmont]]. Founded on 5 January 2025 by [[JunoAndrist]], it is currently led by its chairman, [[TrueDarklander]]. == History ==
The Workers' Party began as the Leftist Front of Redmont, and was founded by [[_ReDkA_]]<nowiki/>on 1 December 2024. It was a small political grouping of leftists, and did not have any legal recognition. Its first leaders were _ReDkA_, Miridosso and .Sirbucket420. However, the group was largely dormant until the new year.

With the beginning of 2025 came the first Trolligarch video about Redmont, and with the influx of new players came an influx of leftists. </ref> After a contentious election, 1950 was certified as the victor, and inaugurated [[List of presidents|president of Redmont]], bringing the Workers' Party to the presidency. This victory was followed by the ascension of Kaiserin_ to the House of Representatives in the February congressional special elections, bringing WPR's count in the House to three (JunoAndrist, Kaiserin_, and [[AsexualDinosaur]], who joined the Workers' Party after their old party, the [[Redmont People's Party]] (RPP), merged with the [[Patriotic Coalition of Redmont]] (PCR) to form [[Liberty for Redmont]] (LfR).

During the February Party Convention, the WPR published a new platform, as well as elected a new Central Committee, made up of JunoAndrist, Kaiserin_, [[AETHER1AN]], [[Jorinton]], and [[norselyqueer]].

In the March 2025 congressional elections, the party successfully elected and re-elected JunoAndrist, Kaiserin_, [[Sleepii_Sloth]] to the [[30th Congress#House of Representatives|30th House of Representatives]], and re-elected Goldendude15 to the Senate. During the March Party Convention, the WPR updated their February platform and elected a new Central Committee, made up of JunoAndrist, Kaiserin_, [[TrueDarklander]], gribble19 and Sleepii_Sloth. This election marked the first change in chairperson since the establishment of the current WPR, with Kaiserin_ being elected as the new chairwoman of the party and JunoAndrist being chosen as the vice-chair.

== Structure ==
The Workers' Party is governed by its monthly party conventions, in which members convene to draft new platforms, elect new [[Central Committee]] members, and vote on amendments to the Party Charter. These conventions serve as the highest decision-making body within the party, ensuring a democratic and participatory approach to governance. The Central Committee functions as the party's primary leadership body, responsible for the day-to-day administration and execution of the party's agenda. It oversees party operations, ensures adherence to its platform, and coordinates efforts among its members and committees.

The Workers' Party also includes caucuses, which are informal ideological affinity groups that allow members with similar political perspectives to collaborate and organize. Currently, there are two recognized caucuses: the Communist Caucus and the Democratic Socialist Caucus. The Democratic Socialist Caucus represents the majority of party members, though it is closely followed in membership by the Communist Caucus. These caucuses facilitate internal discourse and help shape the party's policy direction. From the founding of the WPR and until mid-February, the party had a third caucus; the Anarchist Caucus. The Government of Redmont is a presidential constitutional republic and liberal democracy with three separate branches; legislative, executive and judicial. It has a bicameral national legislature composed of the lower [[House of Representatives]] and the upper-house [[Senate]].

The [[President]] of Redmont is the head of state and the chief executive of the federal government, and has the ability to veto legislative bills from Congress before they become law (subject to be overridden by two-thirds supermajority vote in both chambers of Congress). The House of Representatives has eleven seats, elected on a fixed term of two months with each seat up for re-election before the start of the next Congress. Within the House, a [[Speaker of the House]] is nominated and democratically elected at the commencement of each Congress. The SOTH serves as the presiding officer of the House and is tasked with putting proposed bills and motions up for vote and the public announcement of bills successfully passed and signed by the President.

The Senate has six seats, split into batches of three labelled Class A and Class B respectively. Every four months, seats of either Class A or Class B are put up for re-election, with seats from Class A going up during the January, May, and September congressional elections, and seats from Class B going up during the March, July, and November congressional elections.
