On May 5th 2020, 1950 applied for the creation of his political party, the [[Socialist Party of the People|Socialist Party of the People (SPP)]]. It took part in the 1st Congressional Election, securing a majority of 4 seats out of 7 in [[Congress]]. 1950 ran, and became Redmont’s second [[Speaker of the House]] following the resignation of the first Speaker, superpacman04. 1950 authored bills such as the [https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/conspiracy-act.310/ Conspiracy Act] and the [https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/public-indecency-act.431/ Public Indecency Act].<ref>https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/conspiracy-act.310/#post-738</ref><ref>https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/public-indecency-act.431/#post-1088</ref>

As the 2nd congressional election drew near, a new party was on the rise: the [[Political parties#Democratic Reformist Party|Democratic Reformist Party (DRP)]]. They grew to a membership greater than the SPP or [[Political parties#National Alliance Party|National Alliance Party (NAP)]], and threatened to upset the two-party status quo. As such, 1950 and Dusty_3 agreed to work in coalition, by having their members vote for candidates from both of their parties. Due to the nature of elections at the time, the vote tally throughout the voting period was live, incentivising parties to campaign for more votes if they were losing. The NAP and DRP both partook in this, however, the SPP did not, resulting in the party winning no seats in the next Congress, and a fall in prominence. Congress was therefore split between the NAP and DRP, with the SPP left to rethink their future courses of action.

==== Dissatisfaction with DC Politics ====
By the end of June 2020, after [[Krix]] formed the [[Democratic Reformist Party]], toxicity in politics had begun to rise. This annoyed 1950, but he remained a member of the server for at least a month afterwards.<ref name="iv"/>

In July of 2020, following his unsuccessful reelection bid and the overall defeat of the SPP, losing all of their seats in the House and Senate, 1950 felt he had little to incentivise him to be active on the server, other than maintaining his apartment company, 'MAO S.A'. He therefore decided to take a break from the server. This was meant only to be for a few weeks, with the intention to come back once toxicity in DC politics had subsided.<ref name="iv"/>

==== The New Server ====
A few days after he announced that he was taking a break, 1950 was approached by some other players who had also decided to take a break, asking him to join another City RP server as a builder. This server was run by an individual only remembered today by his initials 'TBI'.<ref name="iv"/> 1950 was initially apprehensive due to the fact that he wanted to take a break from the City RP genre as a whole, but eventually relented, with the stipulation that he would only be hired as a builder for the server.<ref name="iv"/>

After a few days as a builder, 1950 was offered the position of moderator on the new server. There was a rule on DemocracyCraft at the time known as 'non-compete', stating that members of DC could not be Staff or Administrators on servers that competed with DC, however, 1950 felt as if he was not in breach of this rule, due to the fact that he was simply a moderator.<ref name="iv"/>

===== Release Day and Aftermath =====
On the day of the new server's launch, a few members of the DC community, including owners [[Technofied]] and [[xEndeavour]] joined the new server to have a look at their competition.<ref name="iv"/> On the same day as the launch, the new server's map was deleted and the server was corrupted under mysterious circumstances. The reason for this has never been determined, however, many theories, including foul play, have been shared.<ref name="iv"/> After the failed release, TBI was never heard from again and could not be consulted on the true reason for the new server's demise.<ref name="iv"/>

The following day, 1950 was informed that he had been banned due to being in breach of the 'non-compete' rule.<ref name="iv"/> To this day, 1950 insists that he was simply a moderator, therefore not in breach of the rules and that the ban was "wrongly and unjustly applied on [him]".<ref name="iv"/> This ban took effect on the 24th of July, 2020.

After the ban, 1950 made the decision to retire from DC altogether.<ref name="iv"/>

Shortly after 1950’s ban on July 30, The_MarxSisters was elected as the party's next Chair, promising reforms to the party in preparation for the September congressional election. Their performance disappointed many in the party, winning only one seat, and falling a few votes shy of winning two or three seats.

Shortly after this election, two special elections were held in Congress due to resignations. The SPP ran kevv as their candidate in the first special election, achieving 9 votes, far less than the DRP candidate, ronsampaul, who achieved 18. The SPP did not field a candidate for the second special election. In September of the same year, Senate elections were introduced, for which the SPP fielded _37__ as their candidate. They won 21 votes, just shy of the 22 needed to tie with the winner of the third seat.

Shortly before these elections on August 20th, the militant Red Army was incorporated as a wing of the SPP. The Red Army previously launched an attack against the DC Capitol, and had a standoff with the police. Many players disliked the Red Army for these actions, and the SPP, in their decision to tie themselves to the organization, received negative attention.

== Return to DC ==
During September and October of 2020, 1950 received a number of messages from owner [[xEndeavour|End]] and player Dusty_3 asking him to return to the server.<ref name="iv"/> On October the 23rd, 1950 lodged an appeal against his ban. The DC competitor server was no longer extant, and staff had a change of heart about the players they banned. A day later, it was accepted.

The SPP immediately held a leadership election due to growing dissatisfaction with The_MarxSisters and the creation of the Red Army. 1950 was chosen as the new Chair on November 6, and immediately began work on the ongoing November Congressional elections. The party fared better, with candidates 1950 and JoanM999 securing 2 of the 7 available [[House of Representatives|House] seats. This began a trend of the SPP performing better when 1950 was on the ballot and directly involved. The following election in January saw the House expanded from 7 to 9 seats, and the SPP again won 2 seats, with candidates 1950 and Red Army leader Olefante being elected. The party also fielded a candidate for the Senate, _37__, who lost with only 19 votes in his favour.

On January 26, 2021, 1950 announced his candidacy for President with running mate Pugbandit. His main competition was the DRP leader [[Krix]] and his running mate hugebob23456. The DRP was at one of its most successful points, and they were the favourite to win. A third contender was an independent candidate, Austin27, with running mate xEndeavour. Austin27 eventually dropped out, with xEndeavour running with Zab as his running mate.

In a surprise result, no candidate reached a majority, with Krix receiving the most votes at 94 and 48.2% of the total vote. 1950 was second, with 64 votes, and xEndeavour was third with 37. This prompted a runoff between Krix and 1950, in which Krix received 108 votes to 1950’s 89. Krix became Redmont’s 3rd President, and 1950 continued his work in the House.

On 5 February 2025, three perpetrators — [[BabySoga]], [[Jabolko]], and MikeOxlonger1 (aka LiveLaughToaster) — used end crystals to damage and murder residents of [[Anville]], a wild town associated with the [[Workers' Party of Redmont]] (WPR). The attack began around 5 pm EST and ended around 6 pm EST, lasting for approximately an hour in total. The damage to the town was extensive, and its residents were repeatedly killed, despite mounting a formidable defense. The attack led to several copycat attacks in the following weeks. The attack was found to have been supplied, funded, and organized by [[Vernicia]], and became a political controversy. Vernicia, a candidate in the [[February 2025 presidential election]], was criticised for her role in the attacks, which took place just two days before polls opened.

The WPR condemned the attacks, stating that Vernicia had "planned and funded a terrorist attack on her enemies" in order to "weaken" the [[GER–WPR coalition]].

The '''Workers' Party of Redmont (WPR)''' is a left-wing political party in [[Redmont]]. Founded on January 5, 2025, it is the newest registered political party, and is currently led by its Chairwoman, [[MissAndrist]]. The WPR calls itself "big-tent", encouraging all left-wing tendencies to unite under it, and has an Anarchist, Communist, and Democratic Socialist Caucus.

=== History ===
The Workers' Party began as the Workers' Front of Redmont, and was founded by [[_ReDkA_]]<nowiki/>on December 1, 2024. It was a small political grouping of leftists, and did not have any legal recognition. Its first leaders were _ReDkA_, Miridosso and .Sirbucket420. However, the group was largely dormant until the new year.

With the beginning of 2025 came the first Trolligarch video about Redmont, and with the influx of new players came an influx of leftists. One of those leftists was MissAndrist, who joined the Workers' Front on January 2, 2025. From the day she joined, she began helping doing membership interviews, and pushed for the group to be renamed the Workers' Party of Redmont, which they voted to name the group on January 2 in a poll, winning with six votes. The alternative choices were the Socialist Party of Redmont (0 votes) and the Labor Party of Redmont (1 vote).

The next day, on January 3, MissAndrist applied for the Workers' Party to become a legally registered party, and declared her candidacy for that month's House election. Two days later, on January 5, the party became Redmont's newest official political party. Over the next week, the Workers' Party would grow in size due to the influx of new players, and on January 11, MissAndrist became the Party's first elected representative, serving in the [[29th Congress#House of Representatives|29th House of Representatives]].

From January 12 to January 18, the Party held its first Party Convention, voting on its January Platform and electing its first Central Committee, made up of Chairwoman MissAndrist, [[Kaiserin_]], [[juniperfig]], SoggehToast, and _ReDkA_. Following the Convention, committees were established to fulfill the Party's missions, including a Propaganda Committee to create campaign material, a Labor Committee to explore unionization, and a Finance Committee to handle the Party's finances. Later, however, the Financial Committee would be disbanded, and the Legal Committee would be created in its place to review Party policies, legislation, and legal representation.

On January 26, a special Senate election was held to fill the seat of [[Yeet_Boy]], who had been nominated and confirmed as Vice President under President [[lcn]]. In an unexpected victory, the Workers' Party candidate, [[Goldendude15]], was elected to the Senate. This victory cemented the Workers' Party as a legitimate political force in Redmont.

In the February 2025 presidential election, the Workers' Party ran 1950minecrafter, a legacy player and foundational socialist politician, as their candidate. After a contentious election, 1950 was certified as the victor, and inaugurated President of the Commonwealth of Redmont, bringing the Workers' Party to the presidency. This victory was followed by the ascension of Kaiserin_ to the House of Representatives in the February congressional special elections, bringing WPR's count in the House to three (MissAndrist, Kaiserin_, and AsexualDinosaur, who joined the Workers' Party after their old party, the Redmont People's Party (RPP), merged with the Patriotic Coalition of Redmont (PCR) to form Liberty for Redmont (LfR)).

During the February Party Convention, the WPR published a new platform, as well as electing a new Central Committee, made up of MissAndrist, Kaiserin_, AETHER1AN, Jorinton, and norselyqueer.

The Workers' Party is governed by its monthly Party Conventions, where membership comes together to draft a new platform, elect a new Central Committee, and vote on changes to the Party Charter. The Central Committee is the Party's leadership organ, and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Party's activities.

The Party has caucuses, which are informal ideological affinity groups for like-minded people to come together. February 2025 Anville attacks

On February 5, 2025, three perpetrators - BabySoga, Jabolko, and MikeOxlonger1 (AKA LiveLaughToaster) - used end crystals to damage [[Anville]], a wild town associated with the [[Workers' Party of Redmont]], and mass murder its residents. The attack began around 5 PM EST, and ended around 6 PM EST, lasting about an hour total. The damage to the city was extensive, and the residents were killed tens of times, despite mounting a formidable defense. The attack led to several copycat attacks in the following weeks. The attack was found to have been supplied, funded, and organized by Vernicia, and was a hot topic in Redmont politics for the remainder of the month, particularly in the February 2025 presidential election, where Vernicia was a candidate.

== Removal ==
On 16 January 2025, then-Vice President lcn, on behalf of the Cabinet, presented an incapacitation letter to the [[29th House of Representatives]] to deem the President UnityMaster unfit for office, due to a number of reasons, including failing to sign bills for extended periods of time, signing illegal executive orders, failing to respond to the vice president, and much more. Within hours a majority of representatives in the House had passed the motion and it then passed to the Senate. After the three days' wait, the Senate officially passed the motion with three senators supporting and, due to two abstaining, the motion was passed on 20 January and lcn ascended to the presidency.

This led MissAndrist to revisit her policies, which would then affect the platform of the Workers' Party, shifting it away from higher taxes and more towards higher government spending and sustainable monetary policy.

He is currently a member of the [[Workers' Party of Redmont]].

=== Early history ===
On May 5th 2020, 1950 applied for the creation of his political party, the [[Socialist Party of the People|Socialist Party of the People (SPP)]]. It took part in the 1st Congressional Election, securing a majority with 4 seats out of 7 in Congress. 1950 ran, and became Redmont’s second Speaker of the House following the resignation of the first Speaker, Pacman. 1950 authored bills such as the Conspiracy Act and the Public Indecency Act.

As the 2nd congressional election drew near, a new party was on the rise: the Democratic Reformist Party (DRP). They grew to a membership greater than the SPP or National Alliance Party (NAP), and threatened to upset the two-party status quo. As such, 1950 and Dusty_3 agreed to work together by having their members vote for candidates from both their parties. By the nature of elections at the time, the vote tally throughout the voting period was live, incentivizing parties to campaign for more votes if they were losing. The NAP and DRP both partook in this, however the SPP did not, leading to the party receiving no seats in the next Congress and a fall in significance. Congress was now split between NAP and DRP control, with the SPP left to rethink their future course of action.

Following his unsuccessful reelection bid and the overall defeat of his party, 1950 decided to take a break from DC and work on what was then a recently created knock-off server, led by former DC players. He was given a staff role there, and as such, violated a DC rule at the time called non-compete, which stated DC players could not be staff on similar roleplay servers that competed with them. As a result, he was given a permanent ban from DC, much to his shock and dismay. This ban started on July 24, 2020. He continued without contact to the DC community, and most players doubted he would ever be able to return.

=== SPP without 1950 & his return ===
Shortly after 1950’s ban on July 30, The_MarxSisters became the next Chair of the party, promising new reforms to the party in preparation for the September congressional election. Their performance was disappointing for many in the party, winning one seat, and only a few votes away from winning two or three. Shortly following this election, two special elections occurred due to resignations. The SPP ran kevv as their candidate, achieving 9 votes, far less than the DRP candidate ronsampaul’s 18. The SPP did not field a candidate for the second special election. September was also the first month that Senate elections were introduced, and the SPP were painfully close to winning one of the three available seats. Candidate _37__ won 21 votes when 22 was needed to tie the winner of the third seat. Shortly before these elections on August 20th, the militant Red Army became a wing of the SPP. The Red Army previously launched an attack against the DC Capitol, and had a standoff with the police. Many players disliked the Red Army for that action, and the SPP in their decision to tie themselves to the organization received negative attention.

On October 23, 2020, 1950 created a ban appeal. The DC knock-off server had been deleted, and staff had a change of heart about the players they banned. A day later, it was accepted. The SPP immediately held leadership elections after The_MarxSisters failed to significantly grow the party and win elections. 1950 was chosen as the new Chair on November 6, and immediately began work on the ongoing November congressional elections. The party fared better, with candidates 1950 and JoanM999 securing 2 of the 7 available House seats. The following election was a House special in December as a result of JoanM999’s resignation, in which SPP candidate kevv won 6 votes to the DRP’s 33. This began a trend of the SPP performing better when 1950 was on the ballot and directly involved. The following election in January saw the House expanded from 7 to 9 seats, and the SPP again won 2, candidates 1950 and Red Army leader Olefante. The party’s Senate candidate _37__ lost with 19 votes.

On January 26, 2021, 1950 announced his candidacy for President with running mate Pugbandit. His main competition was the DRP leader Krix and his running mate hugebob23456. The DRP was at one of its high points, and they were the favorite to win. A third contender was an independent candidate, Austin27, with running mate xEndeavour. Austin27 eventually dropped out, with xEndeavour running with Zab as his running mate. In a surprise result, no candidate reached a majority with Krix receiving the most votes at 94 and 48.2% of the total vote. 1950 was second, with 64 votes, and xEndeavour was third with 37. This prompted a runoff between Krix and 1950. The result was close, with Krix receiving 108 votes to 1950’s 89. Krix became Redmont’s 3rd President, and 1950 continued his work in the House. 1950 decided to run in the next presidential election in June of 2021, winning 69 votes and proceeded to a runoff against Austin27, who won 98 votes. 1950 was again thwarted in a runoff, winning 70 votes to Austin27’s 95.

The SPP continued to participate in congressional elections, securing 2 to 3 seats each time. 1950 received modest support each time, with enough personal votes to elect another member of the party. However, the party failed to significantly grow to the largest party or even 2nd largest. In October 2021, 1950 chose not to run in the party’s leadership election, and Aladeen became the new Chair. The party received a surprise new member in Krix, which was the sole SPP candidate to win a seat in the November 2021 House election. 1950 stepped back from the public eye at this point, and his activity declined until leaving the server altogether. The SPP declined further until its eventual dissolution through a merge with the Neodemocratic Party (later the Democratic Party) on February 20, 2022. Five months later, on July 25, 2022, former SPP member xeu100 announced a return of the party, and outlined a three phase plan, however this was the last update in the party’s Discord server.

The '''February 2025 presidential election''' was the 14th and latest election to choose the next [[List of presidents|President]] of [[Redmont]]. 1950minecrafter of the Workers' Party of Redmont received 62 out of 156 (39.7%) of the first-choice votes, with 46 (29.5%) going to xEndeavour, 44 (28.2%) going to Vernicia, and 4 (2.6%) going to TheMusica, who was summarily eliminated. Their votes were distributed to xEndeavour (3) and 1950minecrafter (1), leaving Vernicia with the least amount of votes, being eliminated and having her votes distributed. After distribution, the final count was 75 for xEndeavour and 81 for 1950minecrafter, leading 1950 to cross the threshold of 79 votes, and becoming the President-Elect of Redmont. He succeeded President [[lcn]], and tapped Yeet_Boy to continue serving as Vice President.
