As a Doctor, your primary role is to provide medical assistance to patients at hospitals and clinics throughout [[Redmont]]. This involves talking to patients about their symptoms and treating them for any illnesses they might have. Doctors are employed by the Department of Health (DOH) and are level 4 employees in the government’s pay system, earning $35 every 15 minutes.

To become a doctor, you first have to sit the exam at University Hospital and then complete the DOH Trainee Doctors Programme which will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as a doctor.

== Training Programme ==
The Trainee Doctor Programme is the training pathway that citizens take to become a doctor in Redmont. It is ran by the Department of Health, who offers employment to all trainees that complete their programme.

To join the programme you have to sit the exam at University Hospital. You can find the exam room by following the magenta wool after warping to /university. To study for the exam it is a good idea to look at the policies on the [https://www.democracycraft.net/categories/department-of-health.11/ DOH Forum] . The exams open on the 23rd of each month, and close on the 1st of the following month.

The programme has several components to make sure you are prepared for working as a doctor. You will be assigned a [[Medical specialist]] who will be your teacher during the programme. They will run classes and mock attends with you to teach you the necessary skills for work as a doctor. You can also track your progress through the programme by reviewing your probational licence that you can pick up from Dr House on the ground floor of [[Reveille Main Hospital]].

== Procedures & Protocol ==
Most of your time spent as a doctor will be treating patients. To make things fair, doctors let their colleagues know that they will be attending to a patient before actually doing so. This should be done in-game in the '''/doh''' channel. Most doctors simply say 'me' to claim a patient.

After claiming a patient, you can run '''/doctor-attend <patient>''' to teleport to the hospital/clinic where your patient asked for help. You should talk to your patient in the /l channel and take them through to a treatment room to talk about their health. Here you might need to ask the patient their symptoms and temperature in order to properly diagnose them. You might want to use the Conditions and Treatments Guide for help, or you can run '''/health list diseases''' in-game to get information too.

Next, craft the cure you need in the cure room and return to your patient to treat them.

To treat a patient you hold the cure in your hand and RIGHT-CLICK on your patient. Don't drop cures and allow patients to self-treat as you wont be able to make a Medicare claim for your payment.

After treating the patient you can run '''/bulkbill <patient>''' to collect the benefit for the treatment. Make sure to read the [https://www.democracycraft.net/threads/medicare-policy.34076/ Medicare Policy] and keep up-to-date with any changes.

Once that's all done, you can say goodbye to your patient.

A player's elixir level represents how much elixir they have drunk, this can be treated with milk buckets that doctors may sell for $10 to patients.

Conditions represent the injuries and diseases that can be contracted in Redmont. There are many of them and it can be daunting to remember them all. The command '''/health list diseases''' is especially useful for listing out all the diseases in Redmont, and even provides information about the symptoms associated with the condition.

The DOH keeps a book of recipes in their cure crafting rooms to help you with remembering which cure you need to craft for each disease. This can also be checked with '''/health list treatments''' to see a list of treatments and what they treat. If in doubt over a recipe, you can also use '''/recipes''' to check the health recipes.

When a player requests medical assistance by hitting the monitor at the hospital, you will:

Type in {{code|/doh}} that you will attend to the patient. You can do this by saying “Me” or “I got it," etc.

Type {{code|/doctor-attend <patient’s username>}} to attend to the patient.

Greet the patient and ask them how you can be of assistance.

If they don’t know their symptoms, ask them to do {{code|/health symptoms}}.

You will need to diagnose the patient. Asking them to do {{code|/health temperature}} might be useful in diagnosing the disease. Once they tell you what symptoms they’re experiencing, you will need to do {{code|/health list diseases}}, and check which disease correlates with these exact symptoms. You may also use list of all diseases and symptoms in part six of this guide.

Lead them to an empty examination room, and tell them to wait there.

Craft the appropriate cure using materials from the doctor storage room (floor 2 behind the patient rooms). Tell them the correct price, and ask them if they would like to pay with Medicare (if it’s available for this specific disease).

Once the patient pays, you can cure them. '''DO NOT DROP THE PATIENT THE CURE'''. Right click the patient to cure them. You can cure yourself by clicking left-click.

Wish them a good day, and tell them they're good to go!

RECYCLE bottles and DISPOSE of any extra materials in the disposal sign in the doctor storage room.

As a Doctor, you can treat yourself! However you must walk to the hospital and use materials in the supply room. You may also request assistance like a patient. Never {{code|/doctor-attend}} yourself.

Prices are listed near the front desk and in the Doctor's storage room. A doctor must ALWAYS charge a patient the exact amount. Giving away free treatments or charging random amounts is punishable.

The hospital does offer milk buckets to help with drunkenness for $10 (payment to the Doctor), or $20 at the milk vending machine.

* Never refuse to treat a patient unless they are harassing or noncompliant.

* Do not harm or abuse patients, such as giving the wrong cure intentionally.
* Avoid treating patients outside the hospital with doctor-only cures or cures crafted with hospital supplies.
* Ensure you do not keep leftover materials; recycle and dispose of them at the designated disposal sign.
* Do not sell doctor-only cures outside the hospital. (Pharmaceutical goods are an exception)
* Only Medical Specialists can create and use vaccines.

If you need to report a Doctor violating these rules or have complaints, report them to a Medical Specialist (MS) or Health Secretary. These rules are enforceable.

== Legislative branch ==
The Congress of Redmont is the bicameral legislature of the national government. It consists of two chambers: the [[Senate]] and the [[House of Representatives]]. Legislative authority is vested in the Congress by the Constitution. It represents the will of the people and is responsible for debating, creating, amending, and repealing laws and rules.

=== House of Representatives ===
The Redmont House of Representatives, commonly known as the House, is the lower chamber of the Congress. It consists of 11 voting members, each elected to serve a two-month term through a single transferable vote (STV) system, as prescribed by the constitution.

This brought waves of new players and business owners to Oakridge as now selling drugs did not require citizens to have a black market stall. Starting as a [[common cold]] that quickly worsened into a dual cold-[[chicken pox]], the plague was highly contagious, infecting approximately 50 active players including [[President]] [[1950minecrafter]]. The Redmontian name for the plague was coined after player [[MoonKairiki]], who is alleged to have purposefully and maliciously spread the plague in a deliberate attempt to infect citizens.

* Outbreak started on 28th May at approximately 9am EST, when players MoonKairiki and jb4bass arrived at the Reveille Hospital, both drunk and afflicted with cold-like symptoms. Homeland Security Secretary Angryhamdog then arrived, with the intent of arresting MoonKairiki, which resulted in both parties fleeing the scene. Angryhamdog, aided by two Police Constables, Oakridge Mayor Roryyy___ and Representative Rubilubi, pursued and arrested both individuals; however, roryyy___ and Rubilubi both became infected in the process.
* Upon being released from prison, MoonKairiki began purposefully heading into populated areas to continue spreading the disease. MoonKairiki was then asked by Oakridge Mayor and Police Constable roryyy___ in global chat; "[H]ave you and jb been spreadin[g] illnesses", to which MoonKairiki responded "[Y]es". Multiple players were infected by MoonKairiki at this point in time, including Chief of Staff Gribble19.
* The situation quickly worsened as infected players rushed to the Reveille Hospital, where the online Department of Health personel became overwhelmed by the propensity of players. Understanding the severity of the outbreak's contageiousness, a hospital-wide quarantine was put into place, preventing patients from interacting with anyone other than the doctor assigned to their case.
* In the meantime, Angryhamdog attempted to convince MoonKairiki to appear at the hospital for treatment under the threat of being charged for causing infection and resisting arrest; however, MoonKairiki continually refused to comply, remaining in public areas and continuing to infect other players.

* Approximately 11am EST; President 1950minecrafter comes online
* Approximately 3pm EST; DOH starts running out of supplies, DOI dep sec Kay_Jee provides an emergency tender
* Approximately 5pm EST; Press Secretary Jorinton comes online to host Presidential Press Conference; plague spreads into press room, delaying conference. The rest of the conference is held with players wearing face masks or hazmat suits
* 6:30pm EST; Press Secretary Jorinton makes a public statement condemning MoonKairiki and urging citizens to save evidence of them spreading the illness for DHS records
* 7pm EST; President 1950minecrafter makes a public address, declaring a lockdown and urging Reveille citizens to remain home, as well as communicating the work of DOI secretary winterwolf to restock the hospital
* ??? EST; disease spreads internationally to the Kingdom of Alexandria, and the infection dies down within Redmont for a while
SECOND OUTBREAK

* Pandemic starts up again at Reveille spawn (2:30pm AEST)
* The hospital becomes unsafe, players can no longer be cured in the hospital (3pm AEST)
* Having reached the point of being unmanagable, staff intervention occurs to reduce how contagious the plugin is
